We are working with a tier one construction business, ranking among the best in their field. They have worked on a number of Australia’s largest projects, and as a result of growth, have a need for a construction lawyer on an initial 3 month contract.
The Role As a result of growth, an exciting opportunity for a senior inhouse lawyer to join the in-house Legal team based in Sydney, reporting to the General Counsel.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and advising on key contractual arrangements relating to construction matters including major projects, AS4000 standard contracts, major tenders, procurement and collaboration style agreements;
- Negotiating the terms of and property development agreements;
- Managing disputes and legal risk including litigation management
- Advising on regulatory matters such as competition, privacy, safety;
- Instructing and managing external legal service providers when required; and
- Advising the business on adhoc generalist legal, and project matters.
Requirements To be successful, you will have a minimum of
5 years’ post admission experience, working in transactional construction/ projects, or a general commercial role. In addition, you will have the following:
- Experience in construction, projects or a general commercial law;
- Strong reviewing, drafting and negotiating skills;
- Pragmatic and business-oriented approach, a relationship driven individual, who is commercially focussed;
- Ability to work autonomously and handle competing priorities in a high-volume environment; and
- Excellent interpersonal skills to represent the organisation competently, including when negotiating with external parties.
