We represent an Australian sport governing body in their search for a Legal Counsel to be based in Sydney.
  
You will work closely with the General Counsel and other members of the Legal team on a role focused on commercial, sponsorship, data, privacy, and intellectual property.
  
Responsibilities: 
  • Negotiation and drafting of a broad range of commercial contracts, including sponsorship, licensing, digital and IT, marketing, confidential information, funding and event contracts.
  • Assisting with the negotiation and drafting of complex specialist and strategic projects, including those in relation to IT and Digital, professional services, request for tenders/proposals, and collective bargaining.
  • Assisting in response to privacy and data management related enquiries and actions.
  • Assisting in the drafting and review of competition regulations relating to sponsorship, ticketing and events.
  • Assisting in the preparation and implementation of company policies.
  • Assisting in the delivery of legal and compliance training for various internal stakeholders.
  • Advising on content and data strategies and associated privacy compliance issues.
  • Advising on intellectual property rights management including copyright, misleading and deceptive conduct and passing off; brand protection strategy; and issues in relation to use of player images.
Requirements
  • 3 to 6 years’ PAE.
  • Demonstrated excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the commercialisation, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
  • Understanding and experience advising in Data Privacy and the Privacy Act 1988 and EU General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Strong work ethic, be flexible and have an ability to juggle numerous tasks under pressure.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to work as a member of a small team in a dynamic environment.
