Senior Associate, Environment & Planning Lawyer

We represent an elite national commercial law firm whom have national offices across Australia. They operate with a low-leverage model, meaning there is excellent collaboration between lawyers of all levels.

As an upshot of growth, the Sydney office of this major national law firm is looking for a Senior Associate to join their excellent E&P team.

Environment & Planning team

This E&P team in the Sydney office of this elite Australian law firm and is headed by a gun partner who has an impressive reputation in the market. It is a close knit team where they provide the full range of environment and planning expertise across both the public and private sectors. They represent for government authorities, developers, landowners, property investors, infrastructure providers and resources companies.

Position Description


This is role will see you working closely with one Sydney based partner and other lawyers. You will also work with other partners in the Sydney office across corporate, construction, property and projects.

The role will see you regularly provide advice in relation to: 
  • Environmental risk management and compliance; 
  • Pollution and licensing, including enforcement and litigation;
  • Renewable energy, wind and solar farms;
  • Waste, including licensing, levies and compliance issues; 
  • Native vegetation and natural resource management; 
  • Contaminated land management and remediation; 
  • Strategic planning and development advice; 
  • Environmental impact assessment; 
  • Planning agreements Heritage law; 
  • Land and Environment Court litigation; 
  • Planning and environmental due diligence;
  • Climate change law and policy; and
  • Sustainability, including environmental upgrade agreements. 
Position Requirement

The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer who has 5+ years' experience currently working within a highly regarded environment & planning practice. 

This will be a mixed advisory, transactional and litigation role.
