The Employment & Industrial Relations team is now in need of an intermediate level lawyer to join their Sydney office.

Employment & Industrial Relations

The Sydney Employment & Industrial Relations practice is led by two experienced practitioners.

They work across a range of workplace relations, industrial relations and general employment matters - both litigious and advisory - in sectors including private equity, telecommunications, technology, energy and entertainment industries.

Position Description

You will work most closely with two experienced partners and a special counsel level lawyer in a position that will allow a significant amount of autonomy and responsibility for someone at this level.

As an important member of the Sydney based practice, you can expect to be involved in:

• litigation matters including breach of contract, breach of consumer law, general protections, underpayment claims, unfair dismissal claims and equity
  
  
• drafting of Australian employment contracts and policies (including equity and non-equity compensation plans)
  
  
• advice regarding:
• statutory entitlements
• industrial instruments (including Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements)
• termination of employment
• redundancy programs
• restraints
• secondments
• personal data and privacy security
• transfer of business issues
• advice on, and the negotiation of, enterprise agreements with employees and trade unions.

You will also have the opportunity to work with the firm's other offices from time to time.

Requirements

You will be a solicitor with 3+ years' proven experience in employment law from a recognised practice. 

In addition, you will have:

• a developing commercial awareness
• an ability to communicate effectively.
