We are representing a premium boutique law firm, specialising in the areas of commercial litigation, insolvency and restructuring.
The role Due to growth, the firm is looking for a commercial litigation associate and senior associate to join their leading team. The firm prides itself on the high calibre of its team, as well as the top-quality and complex nature of the work they do. Equally, there is a strong focus on creating a culture of happy lawyers who are passionate masters of their craft. Recent matters: - Acting for a key defendant in Federal Court proceedings involving claims exceeding USD $5 billion relating to alleged fraud, breaches of authority, and misleading conduct in securitised financial facilities.
- Acting for joint venture owners in a $150 million EPC dispute concerning the construction of a co-generation power plant, including urgent injunctive relief proceedings.
- Defending a director in a $20 million claim brought by liquidators for alleged breaches of the Corporations Act and directors' duties, and subsequent criminal proceedings.
- Advising on the restructure of a retailer, including negotiating a $30 million bank debt down to $2.5 million and implementing an administration process.
- Advising liquidators on potential claims arising from the collapse of managed investment schemes with more than $900 million in assets under management.
About you
The ideal candidate will be a specialist in the litigation and insolvency space, with a passion for tackling complex matters in this space. That said, they are also interested in general commercial litigators or insurance lawyers with D&O experience. Additionally, you will have: - highly-developed technical skills, including drafting of pleadings, letters of advice and general correspondence;
- exceptional communication skills; and
- a positive attitude and general get-up-and-go approach.
