Front-End Construction Lawyer – Construction and Infrastructure
An exciting opportunity is available for a talented and motivated front-end construction lawyer to join a leading Construction and Infrastructure team in Brisbane.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex and high-value infrastructure, energy and resources projects alongside experienced lawyers in a highly collaborative and technically strong team. You will advise government and private sector clients on the procurement, structuring and delivery of major projects, while developing your technical expertise and commercial judgement across a diverse range of matters.
The Team
The Brisbane Construction and Infrastructure team is recognised for its expertise in complex infrastructure, energy and resources projects across Queensland and nationally. The team advises government, developers, contractors and financiers on the structuring, procurement and delivery of major projects.
The team has deep capability across transport, roads, water and waste, airports, education facilities, mining infrastructure, rail and port facilities, carbon and renewable energy projects. The practice also works closely with government clients on procurement strategy, probity and contract administration, providing exposure to projects that play an important role in shaping Queensland's infrastructure and energy landscape.
The Role
Working closely with experienced lawyers, you will provide practical and commercially focused advice to government and private sector clients across the procurement, structuring and delivery of major infrastructure, energy and resources projects.
You will have exposure to complex and high-value projects from the outset, including transport, roads, water and waste, mining infrastructure, rail and port facilities, airports, education facilities and renewable energy developments. You will assist with drafting and negotiating sophisticated project agreements, advising on procurement strategies, risk allocation and contract administration, and supporting clients through all stages of project delivery.
You will join a collaborative team where senior lawyers are hands-on and invested in mentoring and developing their colleagues. The role provides an excellent opportunity to build technical expertise, develop strong commercial judgement and establish lasting relationships with clients across significant projects.
Responsibilities include: - Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex construction and project agreements.
- Advising government and private sector clients on procurement strategies, project structuring and risk allocation.
- Assisting clients throughout the procurement and delivery of major infrastructure, energy and resources projects.
- Advising on contract administration and supporting clients through all stages of project delivery.
- Working on significant projects across transport, roads, water, waste, mining, rail, ports, airports and renewable energy.
- Building strong client relationships and delivering practical, commercially focused legal advice.
- Working collaboratively with experienced lawyers while developing your technical and commercial skills.
Requirements: - Several years' post-admission experience in construction law, ideally with a front-end construction focus.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and reviewing complex project and construction agreements.
- Strong understanding of construction, infrastructure and/or major projects.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to provide clear and commercially focused advice.
- A genuine interest in construction and a desire to develop a long-term career in this area.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and a proactive approach to client service.
