Banking and Finance Lawyer – Sydney
An exciting opportunity is available for a Lawyer to join a rapidly growing national Banking & Finance team in Sydney.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on sophisticated and innovative finance matters across Australia's growing alternative lending market. You will advise credit funds, asset managers and other non-bank lenders on complex structured finance and hybrid transactions, venture debt and growth finance, restructuring and special situations.
The Team
The Banking & Finance team advises a diverse range of clients across the financial services and alternative lending sectors. The practice has particular expertise in complex and emerging areas of finance, working closely with onshore and offshore credit funds, asset managers and non-bank lenders.
The team takes a commercial and innovative approach to finance matters, providing clients with practical solutions across sophisticated transactions. You will join a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment where lawyers are encouraged to develop their technical expertise, build client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
The Role
Based in Sydney, you will work across a broad range of banking and finance matters, with a particular focus on alternative lending and complex finance transactions.
You will advise clients on structured finance and hybrid transactions, venture debt and growth finance, as well as restructuring and special situations. The role provides exposure to sophisticated onshore and offshore transactions and the opportunity to work with a diverse range of lenders and investment clients.
You will work within a supportive and high-performing team where mentoring, professional development and business development are strongly encouraged. Responsibilities include: - Advising credit funds, asset managers and non-bank lenders on sophisticated finance transactions.
- Advising on structured finance, hybrid transactions, venture debt and growth finance.
- Assisting clients with restructuring and special situations matters.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex finance and transaction documentation.
- Providing practical and commercially focused advice across complex lending and investment matters.
- Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.
- Working collaboratively with experienced lawyers while developing your technical and commercial expertise.
Requirements: - Current post-admission experience practising as a Banking & Finance lawyer.
- Demonstrated experience in banking and finance transactions within private practice.
- Strong technical skills and a genuine interest in complex and innovative finance matters.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively when addressing complex issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships.
- A willingness to contribute to business development activities and the growth of the practice.
- An entrepreneurial and innovative mindset with a proactive approach to your career.
