An exciting opportunity is available for an Associate with construction and engineering insurance experience to join a highly regarded insurance and disputes practice in Sydney.
This is an excellent opportunity to work across sophisticated construction and engineering disputes, professional indemnity and liability matters for an impressive client base. You will join a collaborative and experienced team advising on complex construction risk and insurance issues, as well as significant infrastructure disputes.

The Team

The team has a strong reputation in construction and engineering insurance and acts for construction principals, contractors, consultants and insurers across a broad range of contentious and advisory matters.
The practice advises on construction and engineering disputes, professional0 indemnity, products and general liability, contract works and property-related insurance matters. The team is also experienced in significant infrastructure disputes, including court and arbitral proceedings involving contractors, designers and other construction professionals.
You will work closely with experienced senior practitioners while developing your technical expertise and gaining meaningful exposure to clients and complex matters.

The Role

We are seeking an Associate with approximately 2–4 years' experience to join the Construction and Engineering Insurance practice in Sydney.
You will work across a varied range of construction and engineering disputes and insurance matters, with particular exposure to professional indemnity and liability claims involving contractors, consultants and other professionals within the construction industry.
The role will involve drafting legal documents and advice, undertaking legal research, assisting with complex disputes and working closely with clients and other members of the team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to deepen their expertise in construction and engineering insurance within a supportive and highly regarded practice.
Responsibilities include:
  • Advising on construction and engineering disputes.
  • Acting on professional indemnity matters involving construction professionals.
  • Advising on products and general liability matters in the construction context.
  • Working on contract works and property/ISR insurance matters.
  • Assisting with significant infrastructure disputes, including court and arbitral proceedings.
  • Drafting legal advice, correspondence and other dispute-related documentation.
  • Undertaking complex legal research and analysis.
  • Working closely with clients, experts and other stakeholders.
  • Building strong client relationships and delivering practical and commercially focused advice.
Requirements
  • Approximately 2–4 years' post-admission experience.
  • Relevant experience in construction and engineering disputes, insurance litigation or a related area.
  • Strong drafting, legal research and advisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management capabilities.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the broader team.
  • A genuine interest in learning, mentoring and continuing to develop expertise in construction and engineering insurance.
